A while back you might have noticed that I launched an online tool called OptinChat. OptinChat is a chat based tool to collect information from website visitors. Before inventing and using OptinChat myself, I was using popup forms on my blog. As a general rule popup forms are seen as intrusive and doesn’t have a good conversion rate. I used to get around 5% conversion for an exit popup that I had placed on my blog.

I got the idea for OptinChat when one day I installed a live chat tool on my blog. I had some free time so I was interacting with the visitors myself. This was just an experience to check the response from visitors on my websites.

Most of the conversations started with me understanding that my visitors want to learn digital marketing. Then I would redirect them to LearnDigitalMarketing.com where they can sign up for a free course. As most of the conversations were repetitive, an idea struck me. Why can’t I automate this chat conversation using a workflow?

As of writing this blog post, my Facebook fan page has 236,582 Likes. Apart from my email list, articles on my blog & the search rankings, this Facebook page is one of my best assets. In this blog post, I want to tell you how I took it to this level, and the benefits I get from my Facebook page.

Before we dive into the strategies to grow a Facebook page, a word of warning: Do not put too much energy into building a Facebook Page and a following because end of the day it is a shared asset with Facebook. And Facebook has the power to reduce the organic reach so much that it is worth nothing. And there is nothing we can do about it.

Creating a great brand from scratch is the dream of every startup entrepreneur. But can we build a brand without advertising? Around a decade back, it was possible to build a brand with just advertising. But in today’s digital era, a great brand cannot be built using advertising alone. In this blog post, let’s have a look how to build a brand without advertising. We will also have a look at how a lot of billion-dollar brands have been built from scratch with no money spent on ads!

Valuable digital brands like Google, LinkedIn, Twitter, Uber etc. have always focused on user engagement and creating a good brand experience. Google did not become the world’s No.1 Search Engine via TV, Newspaper and Radio ads. The secret to building a big online brand, especially in the age of internet is to have a very low barrier of entry to a product experience.

With free products and services online, a brand can attract potential customers at zero cost. This create brand engagement and not just brand impressions. Brand engagement is 10x more valuable than brand impressions.

Digital Marketing & Blogging Workshop at Mumbai

by Deepak Kanakaraju on November 15, 2017

Recently I was invited to ResellerClub’s event called Cloud Bazaar in Mumbai. I spoke about my digital marketing journey and how to help businesses with digital marketing for an hour in the main auditorium. Then there was another one hour of parallel track section which was more like a workshop on blogging.

One of the best moments of a blogger is to meet his/her readers in person. I have met quite a few readers in Bangalore because Bangalore is where I stay. However, meeting followers and readers in other cities is not as easy as meeting them in Bangalore because of the travel involved.

I enjoyed meeting and interacting with my readers from Mumbai and would definitely want to create a bigger event in Mumbai again. Thanks to ResellerClub for making it happen.

I am planning to do an all India digital marketing tour covering as many cities as possible. This I am planning to do around February 2018.
