Do you want to change?

Do you want to change?

We all want change.

We want to change for the better.

We want to change our financial status. Our fitness. Our social status. For the better.

I am sure you want to. Who wouldn’t want to change for the better?

But what most people do not understand is that: change takes time. A lot of it.

If you want to have a healthy and fit body, you will not have it even if you spend 24 hours at the gym continuously just for one day.

If you want to build a successful career, one month of working hard is never going to be enough. You need to work for at least a decade.

If you want a great relationship with your spouse (or girlfriend or boyfriend), you need to invest time and energy into the relationship for years.

And you cannot do anything of the above if you do not love the process.

If you are too much focused on the goal and do not love the process, you will get frustrated very soon.

Let’s say you aim to build a healthy and fit body but you do not like working out, exercising, or going to the gym. You will not do it for long enough for the compounding effect to set in and bring in the results.

If you aim to make 1 crore rupees by running a successful business – and if you do not like running the business – you will not do it long enough to reach that point.

A lot of people think that I am lucky to be in this position where I am the number 1 digital marketing trainer in India. Some people think that I have insane levels of motivation to keep working hard all the time.

But the reality is: there is no luck factor or plain hard work that drives my success.

I just love my work. And I keep doing it. I have been doing it for the past 10 years. And I will keep doing it for the next 10, 20, and 30 years.

That’s what drives my results. Consistency and compounding.

This is very easy for people to understand in the relationship category.

Imagine if you are married to someone who you do not like, trust or respect.

Is it possible to love them sincerely and build a strong relationship with them? No. You will be better off moving on and being single or finding someone else.

Similarly, if you have not found work that you love to do, you will not be able to develop a good relationship with your work.
If you do not have a good relationship with your work – you cannot enjoy doing it.

If you cannot enjoy doing the work, you will not spend enough time doing it.

And if you don’t spend enough time (100s and 1000s of hours) then you will not be able to succeed with your work.
The formula is very simple.

Once in a while, you can get motivated by watching an inspiring video or a story of someone who made it. But motivation as fuel doesn’t last long.

If you get motivated, you will do a little bit of work. But it will not last.

The biggest investment that you can do for your future right now is to find out what you love to do and build habits in such a way that you keep doing that even when life gets in the way.

For example, I have built a habit of writing 500 to 1,000 words every morning, even before I have my breakfast. I also enjoy the process of writing.

This blog post that I am writing for you (and my audience) doesn’t feel like work for me. However, it is not that easy that I am just drawn to write something like I am drawn to playing games or socializing.

Writing takes a little bit of effort, but my habit drives me to do it. And once I get started with it, I can do more of it because it is an enjoyable process.

This is similar to going to the gym. Almost all the people I know enjoy the process of working out and the feeling of fitness that comes after going to the gym. But the problem is: going to the gym regularly. It is just the starting trouble. To make sure you stick to a routine, you need habits.

So the formula for success is: find out what you love to do and build a habit around doing it regularly.

And have patience.

Your results will take time. You need to give it enough time for your efforts to compound.

Do not do anything for the sake of the results. Do it for the sake of the work itself which is an enjoyable process.

This blog post that I am writing right now might not give me any results or rewards in the immediate short term. But it is another small brick in the castle of my brand. It takes time to build a castle.

I hope today’s post helped you get a new perspective on what you should be doing to make your life successful. Not just in the work part but in health and relationships as well.
