Why Does Your Facebook Ad Cost Increase Over Time?

by Deepak Kanakaraju on November 21, 2016

Facebook is one of the best platforms to advertise your products or services online. Their targeting options are insane and the cost of advertising to a high-quality audience is the lowest compared to any other online channel.

A lot of digital marketers get excited when they start advertising on Facebook. They get surprised by the low cost of reaching people and start dreaming of conquering the whole world. However, within a few days, their dreams are shattered because they start observing that their click costs are going up and the conversion ratios are going down.

How to Share Facebook Custom Audiences Across Ad Accounts?

by Deepak Kanakaraju on February 21, 2016

In the previous articles on Facebook advertising I have explained about custom audiences and how they work. But did you know that you can share custom audiences between Facebook ad accounts?

share custom audiences

The feature is not enabled by default in your Facebook ads account and it can be enabled only by contacting Facebook’s support.

This can be done only if you have admin access to both the ad accounts. I first started exploring this feature to check if I can tap into the audience of my fellow bloggers.

The Complete Guide to Facebook Pixel for Digital Marketers

by Deepak Kanakaraju on February 11, 2016

Facebook recently replaced their Conversion Pixel and the Custom Audience Pixel with the new universal Facebook Pixel. The old ones will be discontinued by the second half of 2016. The Facebook Pixel can do a lot of things apart from tracking conversions.

fb pixel

Pixel is the most important component in Facebook Advertising. Even if you are not going to run ads on Facebook, the Pixel can help you with deeper audience insights.

According to Facebook: “You can now use the Facebook pixel to measure, optimize and build audiences for your ad campaigns, and no longer need to implement the conversion pixel and Custom Audience pixel.”

The Facebook Pixel can be used for three main functions:

  • Building Custom Audiences from your website for re-targeting.
  • Optimizing ads for conversions. (This excites me a lot – more on this later!)
  • Tracking conversions and attributing them back to your ads.

The Facebook Pixel is very powerful, but at the same time it can be intimidating for a marketer.

I have been using Facebook pixels for quite some time, and I assure you by the end of this article, you will completely understand the potential and the functionality of the Facebook Pixel.

A lot of people visit your website. But do you have a clear idea about who they are and what they do? In this article you will learn how to use Facebook to get some very important and interesting information on your visitors that is not available from other sources.

demographics facebook

In general, we can’t have much information about our visitors because the visitors do not sign up on our website. Even if they become our users, they are not going to give us a lot of information.

If you have a Google Analytics code installed on your website, you can measure the demographics to some extent such as visitor’s location, gender and age. But Google has limited info. With Google+ they have more info but still they don’t know our educational level or marital status.

Facebook has more information compared to Google. Facebook knows where visitors are from, their age, gender, marital status, educational qualification and more! That’s because we happily share all that info on Facebook without a second thought.

If you are running a Facebook Ad Campaign, you would obviously want to know if they are working or not. The only way to find out is by implementing conversion tracking.

conversion tracking facebook

Facebook does not provide a conversion tracking pixel for your ad campaigns anymore. Instead you have to use the Facebook Pixel to track conversions. In this article we will learn how to do that.

Many marketers do not track conversions properly. If you are running an ad campaign to generate leads on your website, you will know (by guess work) that some leads are coming from your Facebook ads just by looking at the stats. There will be a bump in the number of leads that you get everyday.

However, you are not going to get clarity on the numbers unless you track properly. You would want to know how much money you are spending for every lead. (If your campaign is for lead generation).

How to Run Facebook Lead Ads on Desktop (A Workaround)

by Deepak Kanakaraju on November 20, 2015

Facebook launched Lead Ads recently which enables advertisers to generate leads within Facebook. No landing pages and no need for the users to fill up forms. However, the lead ads are only enabled for mobile right now.

lead ads desktop

In my experience, the quality of traffic and leads from desktop users have always been higher than mobile. Mobile users sign up on impulse and sometimes they forget what they signed up for. But I did not want to wait until Facebook launches Lead Ads for desktop.

I discovered a small work around to run lead ads on desktop. All you need to do is pick out the permalink of your Lead Ads post in your page. This is not very obvious because the permalink to this post is hidden from your “published posts” area.

increase-fb-likesHaving more fans in your Facebook Page has a lot of benefits. If you have a blog and your regularly publish posts, you can share it in the fan page and people will discover your new blog post. It will result in getting more likes which helps in SEO – because the search engines pickup these social signals. Having an audience in Facebook also helps you get feedback about your products and services because the entire audience in Facebook is like your focus group.

There are a lot of methods to increase the fans or likes for your page. Some of the most common methods are:

  • Having a Like box or Like button in your website/blog
  • Buy Facebook likes from Vendors
  • Redirecting users to Facebook page from website, YouTube channel, Blog and so on.
  • Advertise using Facebook ads

Having a Like box or Like button in your website/blog is a straight forward way to get likes and you will get targeted fans to your page. But the problem is that the number of new likes will increase only in a linear fashion – directly proportional to the amount of traffic coming to your website. You can buy fans from vendors but the problem is that they may use unethical tactics to increase your likes and many times those Facebook users are un-targeted and not your real fans.

I believe that if you want to increase your Facebook Page fans very fast – 100, 1,000 or even 10,000 within a short span of time then Facebook ads are the way to go. I have used the following tactic to increase Likes one of my publication’s page by 10,000 fans within 1 month and that too at a very low cost – Rs.2 or less per Like.

I would agree that this is not as cheap as the price set by external vendors, but it is far more worth it because these people are really the people looking forward to buy your products or services. You will understand how targeted they are by the end of this article. [click to continue…]
